Wait, You're Not Building an Email List?

Wait, what? Seriously? You have an online presence and you're not collecting email addresses of your prospects or customers? That's a huge blunder. Think about it...how many people come to your website in a week or month? (If you don't know that - ah, you really should.)

More importantly, how many people that visited your website do you know? How many visitors are there with whom you can communicate? Can you send them a letter? Or a text? Or an email? Wouldn't it be better if you could do any of that? Might you make more sales?

OK. Here's the deal. Let's get you set up with some information about how you can add 1,000 subscribers to your very own email list. It's not impossible. It's not even real hard. Anyone can do it. So please click the "Get Started Now" button to the right and get your party started.

The First Rule of 5: Ask Them To Subscribe

The first rule is to ask everyone, everywhere, every time to subscribe to your "VIP" list or whatever you want to call it. You can post an opt-in form on just about every page of your website. (Don't have a website? That's a different problem.)

You can also have a printed form next to your cash register or other places in your business. If you don't operate a bricks-and-mortar business, then print up cards with a link to your opt-in form and carry them everywhere you go (pass them out!).

Rule #2 of 5: Say, "Welcome"

If you're going to have a working email list with which to conduct email marketing, you'll need an autoresponder. An autoresponder is just a special program you can use to send out your emails. You can set it up to send out an automatic, immediate welcome message to your new subscriber. 

You can also set up an entire set of emails to go out at appropriate intervals. You can easily program this all to happen automatically; totally hands-off.

If you are able to include something of value in your welcome email, that's a big bonus. Sometimes, you may have promised something of value to entice someone to subscribe to your list. Make sure your new subscriber gets whatever you promised. This is mandatory.

Rule #3 of 5: This Is a Forever Project

Email marketing is not for dilettantes - not if you're planning to make money with the activity. 

In order for this to work, you have to do it regularly and religiously. At the very least, you need to email weekly. I know of one highly successful marketer who sends an email to his list every single day. It doesn't seem to have hurt his money-making.

Once upon a time, I used to call my complete list on the telephone at pre-set appropriate times. The least interested prospects were scheduled on about a three month interval. These were warm, easy, say hi kind of calls...just to check the temperature. One prospect asked me in a kind of musing way, "How long are you going to follow-up with me?" My answer was simple. "Until one of us dies." So, just keep on keeping on.
